Search Underway in Glacier National Park for Missing Calgary-Sicamous Helicopter
Rescuers are currently conducting a search for a missing helicopter that was travelling from Calgary to Sicamous and is believed to have crashed in the area near Revelstoke in British Columbia. The helicopter activated its emergency location transmitter (ELT) at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 5, prompting the search and rescue efforts. At this time, it is unclear what led to the activation of the aircraft's ELT. The helicopter is thought to have been carrying only one occupant. Crews initiated the search shortly after the emergency signal was detected, but challenging weather conditions including poor visibility and severe precipitation have made the search efforts extremely difficult. Despite the adverse weather, the search is ongoing as rescue teams work tirelessly to locate the missing helicopter.
