Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy XIV Online Open Beta for Xbox Series X|S Consoles
Square Enix has announced the launch of the highly anticipated open beta of Final Fantasy XIV Online for Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S consoles, set to take place around February 21, with a possibility of a slight variation in the date. This news comes after the joint announcement made by Square Enix and Microsoft in July 2023 regarding the availability of the popular MMO game on the Xbox platform. In October of the same year, Square Enix confirmed the upcoming open beta test for Xbox owners. Recently, the company provided a more precise timeline, stating that the open beta is targeted to commence approximately on February 21, with a disclaimer that the date is subject to change, potentially moving a few days later or earlier than the specified date. The complete launch of the game on the Xbox platform is still on track for the spring of 2024. Along with this announcement, several other exciting revelations were made during the livestream, including the release of a 5-minute cinematic trailer for the upcoming expansion. The trailer showcased the new continent of Tural, featuring fresh cities like Tuliyollal and Solution Nine, as well as an array of new enemies, dungeons, and a new raid series. Players can also look forward to two new jobs, Viper and Pictomancer, a new playable race in the form of the female Hrothgar, and various additional features. The expansion is slated for release in the Summer of 2024 across different platforms, including Windows, Mac, PS4, PS5, and of course, the Xbox Series X|S consoles. Lastly, Square Enix unveiled plans for a special crossover questline event between Final Fantasy XIV Online and Final Fantasy XVI, set to kick off sometime in April.
