Boston Man Arrested After Allegedly Raping Woman and Assaulting Police Officers
A 45-year-old Boston man, Milthon Correa-Regifo, was arrested on New Year’s Day after being accused of raping a woman inside an apartment on Bowdoin Street and then assaulting police officers during his arrest. He has been charged with rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer. The accused's bail on a previous assault case was also revoked. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden expressed gratitude that neither the victim nor the officers sustained serious injuries, but emphasized the broader impact of such incidents on sexual assault victims. The arrest took place at approximately 2:16 a.m. when a 26-year-old woman approached a state trooper near Ashburton Place and reported the rape. When Correa-Regifo emerged from the apartment and approached the woman and the trooper, she identified him as the perpetrator. Upon his arrest, he vehemently resisted, spitting at and attempting to bite the officers. The victim also reported that he had bitten her on the buttock before the assault. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability and escalated nature of police work. The state provides resources such as the domestic violence hotline, SafeLink, for support and assistance.
