Metro Vancouver’s R6 RapidBus Lane Reminders for Drivers
Just days after Metro Vancouver’s newest RapidBus route went live, police are reminding drivers the R6 lane on Scott Road is for transit vehicles only. The R6 line began running on Jan. 1, though it was officially launched a day later, on Tuesday. That same day, the Metro Vancouver Transit Police issued a reminder to motorists, saying officers were out to educate drivers about the Scott Road corridor’s bus-only lanes. ‘‘These lanes are reserved for buses only and not to be used as a passing or accelerating lane,’’ the department said in a social media post. The R6 services what has been described as the busiest bus route south of the Fraser, connecting Surrey and Delta via Scott Road. The bus runs on the same route as Route 319.
