Demolition of a commercial building heavily damaged in a three-alarm fire on Christmas Day will keep a stretch of eastbound El Camino Real along the Los Altos-Mountain View border closed for the foreseeable future. According to the city of Mountain View, demolition crews are working to destroy the building, which was in the fire. El Camino Real will remain closed between San Antonio Road and Sherwood Avenue. Traffic detours are currently in place Mountain View estimates the demolition will take between two and three weeks. Detour signs will direct eastbound El Camino Real drivers to turn left on San Antonio Road, right on California Street, right on Showers Drive and left on El Camino Real. The city said drivers should allow extra time to get to their destination while the closure is in effect. The structure at 4600 El Camino Real was home to a dance studio and a judo club. The roof of the building collapsed while firefighters were battling the fire, forcing them to retreat. No one was injured in the fire.
