Benigni Leads Navy to Victory Over William & Mary

Austin Benigni scored 28 points as the Midshipmen dropped the Tribe to 5-8. Benigni also had five assists for the Midshipmen (4-7), while Donovan Draper added 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Chase Lowe led the Tribe (5-8) with 19 points and added six rebounds. Gabe Dorsey contributed 18 points and Caleb Dorsey had 14 points and eight rebounds. William & Mary will host Elon at 7 p.m. Thursday.

A day after seeing its 71-game regular-season win streak come to an end, the Christopher Newport women’s basketball team bounced back with a victory over Stevens in the Stevens Holiday Classic on Saturday in Hoboken, New Jersey. Camille Malagar scored 16 points to lead the No. 3 Captains (13-1), while Hannah Kaloi added 15 and Kate Rader and Nicole Timko had 14 each. The Captains led by only 29-28 at the half, but outscored Stevens 48-33 in the second half. They produced 18 steals, which led to 28 turnovers by Stevens (5-6).
